The Farmhouse

A Valley in the Kleinkaroo

The Main house consists of 3 bedrooms – one with an en-suite bathroom and an outdoor shower and there are 2 bedrooms with a shared bathroom with shower and bath. You have a wonderful view down the valley from the open plan kitchen and lounge.

The barn serves as a games room with table tennis and a pool table. Attached are 2 further bedrooms with bunk beds which can be converted into double beds and a shared bathroom with a shower.

NB: We use solar power so high consumption appliances (like air fryer, electric blankets etc.) can be used during a sunny day but if used overnight there is the risk of running out of electricity especially if the next day is overcast as it will take quite a while to recharge everything.

Do not bring; hand towels, firewood, bedding and flowers

Bring your friends and Family. Car with clearance – this is really off the beaten track. Food and if you are worried about drinking water from our stream – bring water.

Bobbejaanskloof Guidelines to Happiness

It is more than a guesthouse it is our home that we like to share with you.

Some rules helping to achieve it:

  • Safety first– swimming in the dam and playing darts only under adult supervision.
  • You are off the grid – no Eskom and no municipality- On a cloudy day and during the night please be mindful of your electricity consumption as the sun is our supplier.
  • Normal septic tank rules apply – no foreign objects in the toilet.
  • The grey water is fed to the plants – use organic soaps and provided dishwasher liquid.
  • We like to act as guests of nature – avoiding any littering, picking flowers and keep everything as beautiful as it is.
  • Off roaders please stick to the designated gravel roads – no bundu bashing
  • No feeding of wild animals and very important no feeding of baboons. Once these playful intelligent animals know that they can get something with little effort- they will get demanding and aggressive. Eventually they will need to get shot by the local farmers.
  • The water comes from a borehole and has been tested to be potable. Nevertheless it is stored in the green tanks on top of the farm and is sometimes not used for days- we cannot take responsibility.
  • Making a fire is magic – lets be careful as we are in a high-risk area with Renosterveld. Stick to dedicated firepits, braais and indoor fireplaces. Leave them not unattended and keep the fire at a reasonable height. Please make sure that the fire is completely extinguished before leaving inside.
  • The lawns are irrigated overnight – please keep cushion off the lawn when you hit the duvet.
  • If anything breaks let us know so we can fix it.

Thank you and have the most wonderful time in this valley of peace and joy.

Antonia and Heimo
